Happy Monday party people. I hope you all had a good thanksgiving full of yummy food, relaxation and above all peace. We are now officially in the thick of the holiday season. Which I honestly think is a fitting time to have a discussion regarding boundaries. Boundaries usually have negative opinions surrounding it. People think they’re made out of hate or bad intentions but I’m learning more and more now that they’re really created in order to keep your own sanity. So lets chat about a few boundaries that you can create for yourself this holiday season.

  • It’s okay to determine how close you are to your family members and how much access they have not only to you but your family unit. Long are the days where you have to maintain harmful relationships because that person is family.
  • Speak your truth when you disagree with family. There is no need to quiet your voice in order to keep the peace. But do your best to convey how you feel in a kind way. We are trying to break generational cycles.
  • Your immediately family (your partner, kids, pets and household) are priority. This mean that you should put the needs of your new developing family first and not feel guilty about making this choice. Other mays not not like this change (moms, dad and siblings) but that’s what happens when kids grow up into adults and start their own lives. They’ll either get on board or miss out, the decision is up to them.

Just a few things that I really honed in on and am hoping not only carry into the holiday season, but make this a practice all year long. Anyone else feeling like setting some boundaries for yourself and your peace of mind. Let me know in the comments your thoughts. Thanks for reading. Cheers!!!
